Issue - Thin Lips

When one thinks of sexy youthful lips one generally imagines a full pout. Unfortunately we are not all born with full lips and as we age the lip volume decreases and lips become thinner.

At Christchurch Cosmetic Medicine Clinic we offer a range of treatment options to enhance your lips using a dermal filler such as hylaronic acid . Sometimes the treatment may involve placing a filler in the lip border - a subtle option that has the effect of "outlining" the lip. This is great for lipstick bleed problems and for giving better definition to the lip border.

If more volume is needed filler can be placed in the body of the lip - the amount used dependant on how full a look is wanted.

Lastly as gravity takes its toll the lip corners can be pulled down giving the face a sad or unfriendly look. By placing filler in these corners the mouth can look more relaxed and youthful.

Lip Treatments

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers. Restylane and Juvederm are hyaluronic acid fillers which are commonly used for lip treatments. They have the advantage of also being able to be used in the fleshy part of the lip to enhance lip volume. Hyaluronic acid fillers are excellent for treatment of sagging lip corners. They tend to last around 9 months to a year,sometimes clients will have treatments more regularly until they get their desired result and then have yearly top ups to maintain the look.

Lip treatments are performed under local anaesthetic. In most cases we perform nerve blocks, similar to those used by dentists. Firstly the upper and lower gum area is numbed with pleasant tasting local anaesthetic gel.  Local anaesthetic is then injected under the lips to anaesthetise the lips and surrounding area. The effects last about half an hour.
